Hard to believe our VBS Beach Adventure is over half way complete! Boy, have we had fun!! I was worried we would have some low energy with “hump day” but that was NOT the case today. The kids were full of energy thanks to our amazing leader team. So much energy and cheer! Our kids are doing awesome at their daily memory verses and they are LOVING Dude Pipeline and Bruh Shredder. These special visitors have been on the hunt for THE ULTIMATE WAVE but they have also been teaching our campers a thing or two about basic surf lingo. If you haven’t heard of these friends yet, you should definitely ask your kids about them!
The kids were very busy with all the rotations today! In craft, we spent some time participating in a mission project. We got to assemble pencil pouches for our friends in Mexico. While school is constitutionally free in Mexico, there are a lot additional expenses that make it hard for kids to participate, including having to pay for school supplies. So today, we got to assemble pencil pouches full of pencils, scissors, glue, pencil sharpeners, and crayons to send to our friends in Mexico for the coming school year. Our campers also had the chance to write notes and send prayers to the students at Vision de Dios.
Ms. Michelle and Ms. Ava have been so engaging during story time. Today your kids learned that Everyone Needs Jesus! Our story came from Mark 10:17-27. A rich man asked Jesus how to get to heaven. Jesus told the man to go sell everything and then come follow Him. Jesus knew the man cared more for his things than following Jesus. The man went away feeling very sad. Jesus said it is nearly impossible for a rich person to enter God’s kingdom, but all things are possible with God. God sent Jesus to make it possible for all people to be saved.
We learned a new song today, “God’s Love” Be sure to play the CD at home so your child can practice all the moves (and maybe teach you a few!).
We had many kids bring money today for our friends at Vision de Dios! It was a tight race and everyone was so eager to see if the BOYS or the GIRLS brought in more money. After day 1, the girls took the lead and added 3 stacks of “school supplies” to their side. And TODAY, the GIRLS rocked it again and they are officially ahead of the boys. HOOORRAAAYY! The race isn’t over yet. Our campers still have 2 more days to bring in money to support Apoyo Para Estudiantes in Tijuana, Mexico. We have raised $600 so far to help with school supplies for our friends. I heard we even had some girls do a lemonade stand and raise $300 to donate! That’s amazing.
If you or your family are interested in joining us for our VBS Mexico trip this Saturday to visit the kids of Iglesia de Christo and provide them with a taste of the fun that we’ve had this week, please go online and register them HERE
We cannot wait for Day 4 of our beach adventure! TOMORROW is SUPER COLOR SPIRIT DAY; make sure to dress head to toe in your group color. Campers are not required to wear their VBS shirts but are welcome to if they would like.
We are excited to let you know that on FRIDAY we will have an end of VBS celebration with the KONA ICE TRUCK in the back alley!!! We would love to have you join us. There is a suggested donation of $10 per family.
We can’t wait to see all our surfer groms tomorrow!
