It was a beautiful “Night in Bethlehem” last Saturday 12/3/16 as we welcomed over 350 visitors to our Bethlehem village! Each visitor received a tote bag on their way in to the city, to collect and carry all that they accumulated during their stay. The young ones made their way through six village stations: the Scribe’s Tent, Potter’s Shed, Bakery, Painter’s Hut, Spice Shop and Carpentry’s Hut. Every station involved hands-on activities and wonderful take-home creations.
There also was a unique presentation of the nativity story, starring four of our awesome Canyon Springs middle-schoolers. Hannah (played by Cassie Portrey) was the manager of the stable where Jesus was born; she invited Sarah, a Bethlehem resident (played by Audrey Johnson) to share the story of the night that Jesus was born – right in their stable! They were helped out by the angel Gabriel (played by Brooke Wiley) and the Roman Emperor, Caesar Augustus (played by Elijah Bautista). The drama concluded with everyone – including the audience – singing “Away In a Manger”.
While the kids made their way through the village, the adults had an array of treats, coffee and hot cocoa to enjoy. Individuals and groups also made their way over to the photo booth, which was in full swing throughout the event; check out the links below for the hilarious pics!
Thank you to everyone who came to the event and especially to those that helped put it on! It was a beautiful and fun way to kick off the Christmas season!
