In “The More of Less” message that we gave last June, we spoke of some challenges that we tried so that we could better follow Jesus’ command found in Luke 12:15 “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
With our “Garage Sale with a Purpose” happening August 24th, now would be a great time to play the 30-Day Minimalism Game.
Join Us!
If you would like to join us in this challenge, #theminimalism game, then stay after either first or second service on Sunday, July 21st to hear about the Minimalism Game and decide if you want to take on this Challenge too!
Event Details:
- What: Mimimalism Game
- When: Meeting is Sunday, July 21st, 2019
- Time to Meet: After First or Second service to discuss what this challenge is all about.
- Kick-Off of Challenge: Monday, July 22, 2019
How Does This Work?
Each person gets rid of one thing on the first day of the month. Two things on the second. Three things on the third. So forth and so on. Anything goes!
- Collectables
- Decorations
- Kitchenware
- Electronics
- Furniture
- Tools
- Bedding
- Clothes
- Towels
To assist you with keeping track of how many items, (per day/per date), feel free to use this Daily Reminder
Be sure to create a space where you categorize each item into:
- Donate (maybe Garage Sale with a Purpose)
- Sell
- Trash
Your excess stuff; every material possession, must be in one of your above designated areas by midnight each day and then out of your house—and out of your life—as soon as possible!
It’s an easy game at first. Anyone can purge a few items, right? But it grows considerably more challenging by week two, when you’re forced to jettison more than a dozen items per day. And it keeps getting more difficult as the 30 days progress.
Whoever keeps it going the longest wins. We all win if we make it to the end!
The More Of Less Message can be found in the “More” sermon series.
