Join Us As We Head Downtown, Down the Street, and into our Neighborhoods!

On this once-a-year Sunday, join your Canyon Springs family for a shortened worship service before we all go out into our community to serve. We offer five different missional events during “All Hands Sunday.” Individually, as a friend group, or family, you can choose the mission team that resonates with your heart.

Please take a moment to learn about the various mission teams you can participate in on All Hands Sunday! This is an opportunity for all of us to put our gifts into action, serve, and pray for our church, community, and ministry partners in an intentional, “boots-on-the-ground” way! Don’t miss this special opportunity to be Jesus’ hands and feet to our neighbors.

-Team Blessing Bags-

Team Lead – Ava Cummins / Team Color – Light Blue

As of January 2024, an estimated 10,000 individuals were experiencing a season of homelessness on the streets of San Diego. Many people don’t even view our homeless population as humans. But as followers of Christ, I invite you to see those on the streets as valuable lives and show them the Love of Christ.

We can make in the lives of just a few of these individuals by helping them feel seen and valued. Join us as we assemble and deliver as many as 200 “Blessing Bags.” These bags filled with essentials like toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, deodorant, sunscreen, water, and hand sanitizer can be a beacon of hope for those in need. We will deliver our bags to pre-designated areas around downtown San Diego.

Please note: Three weeks before hitting the streets we will gather to assemble the Blessing Bags. Mark your calendar for Sunday, August 18th, at 10:45 am (right after our single 9:30 am service).  This assembly party will enable us to hit the ground running with all the bags on the morning of “All Hands Sunday!”

Team Prayers For Our City

Team Lead – Caroline Grondin / Team Color – Grey

‘San Diego, America’s finest city by the POWER OF PRAYER’

Based on the promise in Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them,” this collective prayer has the potential to transform all involved and fill us with continued hope!

Our team will be praying not only for our city but particularly for the unhoused children living in unstable circumstances and those who are struggling with illnesses they didn’t see coming.

Below are the locations we will travel to during our All Hands Sunday!

Prayer Locations

  • Kearny Mesa Apts. – the Unhoused
  • Mount Soledad – the City
  • Polinsky Children’s Center – the Orphan
  • Kaiser Permanente – the Sick

Team Service Day At “New Day Urban Ministries”

Team Lead – Lori Hughes / Team Color – Yellow & Orange

New Day Ministries helps to restore lives by equipping those in need to move forward with hope. It provides physical, psychological, social, and spiritual services to the homeless, urban poor, veterans, and those recently released from prison in a safe, home-like setting where people are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

As we know from Psalm 72:12, “He will rescue the needy person who cried for help and the oppressed person who has no one’s help.” This is not just our opportunity but our shared mission to serve and pray for those in a season of need.

We will spend the morning at the New Day Urban Ministries facility on Market Street, helping with the following:

  • Sorting clothing
  • Assembling food bags
  • Assembling hygiene bags
  • Outside yard work

Team Scripps Ranch Service Project

Team Lead – Don Hughes / Team Color – Navy Blue

Invest in a service project right in our own neighborhood as we refinish several benches and picnic tables within the immediate area of our church. Many of our business neighbors and community residents use these tables and benches to relax, visit, and share a meal when out walking. We know that God created us to live in community, and this service project allows us to be blessed and bless others. It is our joy to enhance our community and invite others to gather.
