Women of Canyon Springs: Soul Spa Weekend 2024: September 14-15th!

What a weekend! Forty-seven women descended upon the beautiful city of Carlsbad for Soul Spa Weekend 2024! There was plenty of laughter, fun, food, worship, and lots and lots of JESUS! The hotel staff told me they loved all the women from Canyon Springs Church. She said everyone was so “joyful!” Tracy Tompane was our keynote speaker, teaching us the value of each piece of the armor of God, as found in Ephesians 6:11-18. Sophia and Dalton Hays, with Asher Schmitz, led us into worship. Hearing the gorgeous voices of 47 women singing together was soothing to the soul and helped us all relax and let go of our worries, if only for this one night away.

Our mission project for the weekend was with the White Rainbow Project, which supports widows and at-risk widows in India.  Through the sale of goods made by the hands of these precious Indian women and pledges for monthly support, the women of Soul Spa Weekend raised $1,340! One of the weekend’s highlights was the strong bonds formed in our small group breakout sessions. The importance of Christian community was proven true with the blessings of new friendships, discussions, and times of vulnerability.

Some women enjoyed visiting Carlsbad Village on Saturday afternoon during free time and dining on scrumptious food with the gorgeous Pacific Ocean as a backdrop. Others tapped into their creative juices by attending Sheila Azeka’s whimsical floral painting class!

After our Saturday evening session, each woman was given an “Armor Up” bracelet to remind her of the value of “putting on” each piece of our God-given armor to fight for Jesus. An invitation was also extended to accept Jesus!

On Sunday morning, we had a powerful time of worship followed by a special communion service, during which we celebrated God’s ultimate revelation of His love for us by dying on the cross. It was the punishment we should have taken, but He took it for us! For this reason, we all become “Armed and Dangerous with the Armor of God”! We fight for our Rescuer and Savior!
