When did you start coming to Canyon Springs?
Summer of 2016
What made you decide to Volunteer?
Lauren – I joined the Worship team after Ryan did. I wanted to get to know people and be a part of what God was doing at Canyon Springs. It was easy to like everyone right away.
Ryan – Kyle Hildebrand asked me to join the worship team after we attended service at Canyon Springs. Kyle and I had known each other for awhile.
What is your favorite part about Volunteering?
Lauren – Getting to know people. There is no faster/better way to get to know someone than by working alongside them.
Ryan – I like playing on worship teams. It’s my preferred way to worship and it gives me a chance to play with all my toys.
Do you volunteer with organizations, outside of Canyon Springs
Lauren – Not currently, unless you count keeping a tiny human alive. I don’t get paid for that.
Ryan – Not right now. In the past, we ran an all ages music/art venue at our last church.

What is your job/profession?
Lauren – Graphic Illustrator/Designer and a Stay At Home Mom.
Ryan – Graphic Design / Video Production / Podcaster
Where were you born/raised?
Lauren – I was born in Fairfax, VA but have lived most of my life in California.
Ryan – Born and raised in Mira Mesa.
What brought you to San Diego?
Lauren – My parents made me. My Dad said, “The weather is nice and you’re a baby. You can’t talk.”
Ryan – Dumb luck I guess.
Married/Family/Children?
Lauren – Married to Ryan who tricked me into our first date on accident. We found a dead shark on the beach. We fell in love. Made a 3 year old (Henry) and kid #2 is under construction.
Ryan – One wife, one kid, a second on the way.
Stuff & Random Tidbits
What is your favorite food / restaurant in San Diego?
Lauren – Tiger Tiger, Tajima Ramen, Happy Sushi, Luigis Pizza in North Park.
Ryan – There are so many. What category?
What is one “interesting fact” about you?
Lauren – I have caught birds with my bare hands . . . is that interesting?
Ryan – I don’t actually know how to do anything. I just make it up as I go.
Random Stuff About You / Fun Facts
Lauren – I used to live next to Madonna by the Hollywood sign. I was young. I didn’t care.
Ryan – I like spicy food. I’m not really into avocados in general.
What is one word or phrase that describes you?
Lauren – I took a quick online quiz to try to narrow down a word that would sum up my being as a whole and define my existence … “Please enter your email to see your results!” Nah. I’m good. I guess that makes me MYSTERIOUS!
Ryan – Vertebrae. My bones are on the inside.
