It was B.A.R.F Night – one of our favorite nights of the session! What a great night! We had 12 friends join us – and we are hoping they’ll come back and see us again soon!
Having all those friends made game time even more action-packed! Check out the pics below for a snapshot of all the fun. :)
During table time, Ms. Betsy invited all the “friends” to the front to tell them all about Awana. Each of the friends got an intro booklet (either Flight 316 or StartZone) that they could start working on that night…and continue to use if they come back! Of course, our awards room was busy giving out jewels, patches and wings.
During Counsel Time, Ms. Betsy invited some clubbers up to the stage to teach our friends what AWANA stands for. We went through the acronym and the verse reference at regular speed and the faster and faster – and then we did it backward! So funny!
We continued with our cereal-of-the-week theme. Our cereal that corresponded with “friend” week was…
LUCKY CHARMS!
Ms. Betsy was surprised to find out that Lucky Charms is the FAVORITE cereal of a lot of our clubbers! We talked about some of the lucky charm marshmallows that are in the cereal. Then… Ms. Betsy gave the clubbers a little quiz, presenting examples of things that are thought to bring either good luck or bad luck – and the clubbers had to guess which they thought it was. Please don’t blame me if your child is a little freaked out the next time you break a mirror or walk under a ladder?! :)
Our Bible story was from the book of Luke, chapter 5. Ms. Betsy shared how four men had a friend that was paralyzed and they went out of their way to help him get better. They didn’t go looking for rabbit’s feet or four-leaf clovers; rather, they knew the one thing he needed – and the only thing that would really help their friend – was Jesus. Jesus was staying in a crowded house which meant the men couldn’t get inside! Rather than just walk away, the men took their friend up on the roof and lowered him into the house through a hole in the roof! They were going to do whatever it took to get their friend to Jesus. And sure enough, Jesus healed their friend and he was able to get up a walk on his own! Everyone in that house was amazed and MANY that day came to know Jesus as Savior.
Ms. Betsy shared that Jesus doesn’t want us chasing after good-luck charms; He wants us chasing after Him. And… we can be true friends by bringing our friends to Jesus, just like those men did.
Congrats to the RED team, our big winners for the night!
Next week is…. SPORTS NIGHT! Clubbers can wear any sports uniform, gear, attire or jersey.
Have a wonderful week – see you next Wednesday!
