What a great start to our Awana Winter Session! We were so excited to have our Clubbers back last night – and to meet the new ones that are joining us for the first time! Table time was busy as the Clubbers dove right back into their books, memorizing their verses and saying them for their leaders. We gave out quite a few patches, jewels and wings on Night #1 – love it! Game time was equally fun; it’s hilarious to hear the squealing and cheering going on outside, from INSIDE the Cove! It’s a joyful noise!
During Counsel Time, Ms. Betsy shared that we are going to be highlighting a different breakfast cereal every week of this session. After all, breakfast IS the most important meal of the day and cereal is an all-time favorite of almost everyone. The cereal-of-the-week this week was….
CHEERIOS!!
We talked about how many varieties of Cheerios there are (ask your child if they can name them all?!) and how Cheerios are enjoyed by all ages, even babies! You know what else is for people of all ages – the good news of Jesus! Ms. Betsy had the Clubbers open up their Bibles to the book of John, chapter 4. She shared the story of the Samaritan woman at the well. The Jews and Samaritans did not like each other at all, so when Jesus spoke to her she was very surprised. Not onl
We learned a new song that goes along with the memory verse, Psalm 34:8. “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” (See if your Clubber can remember the motions)
Next week it will be a Winter Wonderland at Awana! The Clubbers can bundle up in their cozy clothes, boots, scarves, etc. That might just go along with our featured cereal?! Hmmm…..
We also talked about the people in Mexico at the Rio Al Mar orphanage and how the El Nino wind and rain is causing their housing areas to be quite devastation and how the cold is so hard for them as they don’t have warm clothing or blankets. So…Ms. Betsy challenged the Clubbers: anyone who brings a donation next week for Rio Al Mar with earn 25 extra points for their team! And… they will put a smile on the face of someone down south. :)
Have a wonderful week – see you next Wednesday!
