OASIS—is a youth program for students in grades 6-8 and 9-12. OASIS stands for -- Outreach, Accountability, Service in San Diego.
Oasis youth program provides a safe, open, and comfortable environment for kids in junior high and high school where they can learn and grow in their faith. We offer two separate services, meeting the various needs of developing teens. Junior High meets during the first service, and senior high meets during the second service. Our Sunday services include games, object lessons, prayer, worship, media power point, and messages specifically designed for the teen culture.
We host mid week core groups—Wednesday night for senior high and Thursday night for junior high. These nights are times for kids to meet in smaller groups with leaders/mentors who help them grapple with Biblical and life questions. We coordinate the studies to complement our Sunday message series so kids can dive deeper into the Bible and apply it to their lives. These nights are also times to share and pray.
Once per month we host an Invite Night—a time for kids to invite friends who may not otherwise come to church—to join in a fun activity like a trip to Boomers, Game Night, Pajama Parties, Pool Parties, Scavenger Hunts and so on.
Every six weeks, we split into gender specific groups: GAG nights (Girls and God, Guys and God) where guys and girls hang out with their leaders and do something fun like cookie baking, ultimate Frisbee, movie night, etc.
In the summer we host weekly events for kids to spend time and fellowship with friends such as beach bonfires, luaus, movie night under the stars and morning hikes.
The summer is also the time we attend week long Christian camps for kids to grow in their faith and in their relationships with friends and leaders. These weeks prove to be life changing events in which our students develop strong relationships with each other and with God.
We also encourage our teens to think beyond themselves and serve others. Many of our teens are junior leaders, Sunday school helpers, student worship team leaders. Our students serve our community by working together to run all the recreation at our Vacation Bible School in August.
OASIS is led by our Youth Director, Kirsten Loy and Assistant Youth Director, Matt Marbrey, along with a volunteer team of adults who commit to serving kids and helping them and their families through the teen years.
